Low Fat Diet and Weight Loss

If you are still struggling with how to address weight issues, the study below should be of some interest to you. There have actually been many studies looking at which is better, low carb, low fat, high protein, etc. When the low carb fad was in it’s heyday, my biggest concern for clients is the lack of foods that are consistently shown to be the highest in health-promoting nutrients, known as phytonutrients. Although the health differences between a diet high in fruits, vegetables and whole grains and an ‘average’ diet was the original purpose of the below study, researches decided to release results of weight loss, first.

In the January 4, 2006 issue of the JAMA, results were released on the effects of post-menopausal women following a low fat diet over a 7 year period. If you’re thinking of following the next fad diet, or are afraid of eating fruits and vegetables, as a result of the Atkins blast in the last few years, you’ll find this study interesting.
